The market town of Turnau once again hosted its New Year's reception at the town hall:

Traditionally, at the beginning of the year, the market town of Turnau invites representatives from politics, administration, business, associations, emergency services, and civil society to a New Year's reception in the town hall. Among the numerous guests at this year's reception were District Governor Bernhard Preiner, pastors Erich Klein and Herbert Kernstock, and honorary citizen Heinz Reitbauer.

The evening provided a good opportunity to review past achievements and present plans for the coming year. Among other things, the town hall will undergo extensive renovations in 2026, a section of the B20 highway near Seeberg will be renewed in cooperation with the Styrian government, a renewable energy cooperative will be launched, the fiber optic network expansion will be finalized, new apartments will be built in the town center, and the renovated changing room facilities at the sports field will be officially opened. Turnau also has a number of projects planned for tourism, culture, and events in 2026; for example, the Hunting Advent Market will take place for the 20th time this year. Furthermore, Turnau places great emphasis on sound fiscal management. As a result, the municipality's debt has been halved within the last 10 years, while reserves have been built up. This, along with the fact that numerous projects in the municipality have been completed and fully paid for in the recent past, gives Turnau a certain advantage in challenging times. “Through cohesion and cooperation, we will continue to build a modern community together with our population – in harmony with performance, success and security,” said Mayor Stefan Hofer in his short speech.
