On April 25, 2025, the inaugural meeting of the Turnau Municipal Council took place in the local multi-purpose hall. Guests of honor included District Administrator Bernhard Preiner, Chamber of Labor President Josef Pesserl, and the mayor of Kindberg, Christian Sander.
In the municipal council elections on March 23, 2025, the SPÖ won 13 seats, while the ÖVP received two seats in the new municipal council. The municipal leadership, consisting of Mayor Stefan Hofer (SPÖ), Deputy Mayor Berthold Strobl (SPÖ), and Municipal Treasurer Stefan Höfler (SPÖ), was unanimously elected at the inaugural meeting – a testament to the strong, cross-party cooperation within the Turnau municipal council.
“In challenging times, people long for stability, experience and solidarity – that is what I and my team stand for,” said the re-elected mayor Stefan Hofer, who will also exercise his function as people’s mayor during this legislative period.
